Created in the white Floridian Vernacular architectural style, the community will offer ample areas for relaxing with friends and meeting new ones. The 60-unit assisted living facility will offer 36 spacious studio and one-bedroom assisted living suites plus 24 purpose designed Alzheimer’s and memory care suites in The Harbor. Common areas will include casually elegant dining room, a private dining room for families to use, special café areas, libraries, care and game areas, and a large wellness area complete with exercise equipment specifically designed for seniors. Additionally, a state-of-the-art therapy suite will offer residents on-site access to therapy services needed, provided by Grace Rehab.

About The Harbor Alzheimer’s and Memory Care Assisted Living Center

One of the unique features offered at The Harbor will be the Simple-C Companion which is the cutting edge, scientifically proven, non-drug therapy to promote memory retention. It is specifically tailored for each individual and blends technology with behavioral therapy utilizing familiar images, music and voices from a resident’s own life to stimulate and help retain the memories of important people and key events. This service is delivered by an intuitive touch screen or tablet, multimedia display for residents and families to use. The interactive tablet will broadcast recorded messages of family members, show family photographs and play music specific to each individual.

This technology is the result of years of study and development with top research institutions, including the Copper Ridge Institute, Emory University, Georgia Tech, Georgia State and the University of Maryland.

The Simple-C Companion will also be an integral part of A Purposeful Day Program at The Harbor. This specialized therapy program is designed to offer engaging activities throughout the day. The components of the program are focused on both individual and group opportunities since research shows that both can effectively stimulate memory. The program will incorporate four types of specific therapy to engage our residents. These four are Reminiscence Therapy, Trusted Voice Therapy, Time and Place Therapy and Music Therapy.

The state-of-the-art technology will play a huge role in the delivery of service, care and life enrichment. “We are very excited about the resident-focused, life enrichment programs and the technology that will help our residents with memory stimulation and behavior management,” Ray said.
